Reverse your wood floor's aging process
Being a natural product, hardwood floors are subject to natural wear and tear. Scuffs, scratches or just an overall dull appearance are just some of the signs that your floor may exhibit as part of the aging process. These issues can leave your floor looking unsightly, but they are purely cosmetic and extremely common. You will be pleased to learn that a professional hardwood floor restoration service will transform your floor, so that it looks young and revitalised for many more years to come.
So, before you rush to lay a floor covering on top of your existing floor, read on to learn the best way to restore hardwood floors.

Step 1 – Choose your Package
Here at Essential Floor Care, we offer 5 different hardwood floor restoration packages. Which is right for you will depend on the current condition of your floor, your preferred finish and what you hope to achieve by having your floor restored.
Step 2 – Preparing your Floor
Once you have chosen your package, we will inspect your floor and take moisture readings to ensure that the sanding process can commence. It is important that all floor boards are secured without any nails sticking up.
Step 3 – High-Filtration Vacuuming
If there is any surface dust or dirt on the floor, this can damage the wood during the sanding process so it is important to use an H-rated high-filtration vacuum to ensure all dust and dirt particles are removed.
Step 4 – The Sanding Process
Using the latest sanding systems that have been proven to be 99.9% dust-free, we work with the grain of the wood to bring the floor back to life. Our edging sander system ensures a thorough service. We restore every edge and every corner to a consistently high standard.
Step 5 – Dust Removal
Prior to applying the lacquer or oil of your choice, we use our high-filtration vacuum once more to ensure that the surface of the floor is 100% dust-free.
Step 6 – Application of Finishing Product
It is important to protect a freshly sanded floor to ensure long-lasting results. Depending on your chosen package, we will apply a high-quality oil or lacquer to seal the floor and bring out the unique pattern of the grain.
Step 7 – Take your Time
Before you move all the furniture back into the room, you should wait a minimum of 12 hours. As the old saying goes, “you can’t rush a good job”, so take your time and wait for your floor to completely set before putting the room to use again.
