An Easy Way To Improve Your Home
Have you moved into a new home and – lucky you - discovered beautiful parquet flooring after lifting up an old carpet? Or maybe you’ve had parquet flooring in your own home for some time now and feel it could definitely do with a little love?
Whatever the reason, restoring your original hardwood parquet flooring isn’t difficult, and yet it can make such a difference to the overall look and feel of a room.

Parquet flooring restoration costs
You may be wondering, though, about parquet flooring restoration costs. This will depend on how much of the flooring you want to be restored and what kind of repairs are needed. The type of finish for the flooring that you choose will also affect the price. The most popular type of finish for your parquet flooring is matt lacquer. This gives the floor a natural and traditionally waxed look.
In general, though, if you are just looking for the flooring to be sanded and refinished, then you are probably looking at a price tag of around £45 per square metre.
Intense parquet floor restoration
It may be, though, that the flooring you want to be restored is pretty old now. In which case, many of the blocks of wood may have come loose. Some may even need replacing entirely if the wood has become rotten in patches. This is especially the case if the flooring was laid around the 1940s and had been covered over for decades.
Other problems could be gaps between the blocks or blocks which don’t actually match. Some of the gaps in parquet flooring may even be filled in with concrete (it happens, unfortunately!). In very rare cases, it may be that the parquet flooring is so damaged that it’s impossible to restore it.
You’ll find though, that if the flooring hasn’t been covered over by carpet but has been ‘allowed to breathe’, then the blocks of wood are probably still in a very good condition and definitely worth restoring.
