Parquet Flooring Restoration - Suffolk
It’s perfectly possible to restore the beauty of your parquet flooring by calling in a professional restoration company like ourselves here at Essential Floor Care.
Parquet restoration can be completed on a DIY basis, of course, but we would always recommend that you bring in the professionals for a top-quality job. That way, you know it’ll be done correctly, without much fuss or mess and in a reasonable amount of time. You’ll also see exactly why restoring your parquet flooring – rather than covering it over with a carpet or large rug – was absolutely the correct path to go down.
Reasons for your parquet restoration
There can be many reasons why you feel your parquet flooring could do with a facelift. It could be, for instance, that some of the blocks are either missing or loose. Another reason could be down to the fact the surface of your flooring is looking scratched and stained.
Loose bricks could be the result of plumbing or electrical work having been undertaken, or it may be that a fireplace has been removed. It may also be simply down to water damage. Reclaimed blocks can often be used to fill the gaps. If gaps have already been filled with concrete, then a professional restorer should be able to rectify this.
Parquet restoration: sanding and lacquering
Once sanded, the floor should then be buffed to ensure there are no ridges left from the sanding. Then it’s a case of brushing, wiping and hoovering the floor before adding a finish. This can be with wax, oil or varnish (lacquer). The idea of the finish isn’t just to enhance the flooring but also to protect it from further scratching, denting and staining etc. Lacquer is the most hard wearing finish, while oil and wax give a more natural look to your flooring.
