What's The Process Of Renovating Wooden Floors
Are you wondering how you can return your wooden floors to their original lustre? You may be tempted to have new floorboards fitted, but be warned – you’ll pay a lot more money for going down this route.
Renovating wooden floors is a far more cost-effective means of ensuring your floors look their best. This can be done on a DIY basis, but this takes time and can be messy. And that’s why more and more people are getting in companies like ourselves here at Essential Floor Care to do the restoration work for them.
4 types of processes for renovating wooden floors
1. Sanding and oiling
Your wooden flooring is sanded using our advanced 99.9 percent-free extraction system. This ensures the floor is ready for us to apply a hard-wax oil treatment to the wood, which in turn will protect it from heavy footfall and scratching.
2. Sanding and lacquering
After we’ve sanded your floor, we then apply a coat of lacquer. This not only enhances the floor but adds a further layer of protection.
3. Sanding and gap filling
Any gaps in the flooring are filled with splints from reclaimed floorboards. After this, sanding and oiling or lacquering are carried out.
4. Cleaning and oiling
If the flooring condition is already excellent, i.e. there are no apparent scratches, then the wood can simply be cleaned and a fresh coat of oil added.
5. Lacquered finish
Several coats of lacquer are applied to the flooring, with each coat given time to cure individually.
Renovating wooden floors doesn’t have to be a hard and thankless task. Not that is, if you use a company like ourselves here at Essential Floor Care. A family-run business, we have been restoring wooden floors, as well as cleaning carpets, decking and other forms of flooring, for decades now.
