New wooden floor or full restoration?
Wondering how much it will cost to restore your formerly beautiful hardwood or parquet wood flooring? One thing is for sure, restoring wooden flooring – regardless of age – is always far less expensive than having it fitted in the first place.
Another plus for restoring wooden flooring is that it will always pay for itself in terms of how much it adds to the value of your property. Not to mention how much joy you and your family will get seeing the flooring restored to its former glory.

Wood floor restoration cost list
The cost of wooden floor restoration is calculated per square metre. If a lot of repairs are needed to make the boards look as good as new, this will have to be factored into the overall costs. In the case of parquet flooring, it isn’t unusual to find previous homeowners have filled in missing blocks with concrete, resulting in much lengthier restoration work and labour costs.
And that’s before we mention the cost of the concrete removal and additional parquet blocks you will need.
The cost will also be dictated by where the flooring is; i.e. stair sanding will cost more per square metre than a straightforward flat floor. Removing a carpet to access the floorboards will also add to the cost.
Typically, though, when it comes to wood floor restoration costs, you are looking at an average cost of £25 per square metre of sanding and refinishing.

Why sand and polish wooden flooring?
The difference wooden floor restoration makes to any room can be really quite remarkable. It can give that room a new lease of life.
Crucially, when you go to the bother of restoring and finishing your wooden flooring, you are also ensuring that it will last for years to come. In other words, you are ensuring its longevity for the subsequent homeowners to enjoy.
That way, they don’t have to use up more of the earth’s resources by having their own wooden floor fitted.
