Oil v lacquer
So, you've decided to have your floor sanded and restored but you're not too sure what Finish to have. Basically, two types of finishes on the market a oil or lacquer.

The lacquer option
The lacquer basically sits on the top surface of the wood and because of this most lacquers even matt give an appearance of an obvious coating to your floor.
Lacquer floors is durable, and low-maintenance option but it can be prone to scratching.
The oiled option
Hard wax oil penetrates into the wood protecting the wood from inside this give a more a more natural look .oil has the advantage of having a low build up and comes in matt, which helps mask slight imperfections caused by wear and tear.
With the advantage of being able to top up the protection of the oil I simply mopping over with an oil care product keeps the more beautiful for longer. Oil floors can also be repaired by sanding the area and simply reoiling the area.
In Summary
In summary a lacquer floor is low maintenance but cannot be patch repaired where an oiled floor has more maintenance with the addition of mopping over with oil care which keeps it looking nicer for longer and if any damage to occurs it can patch repaired by sanding and reoiling the area.
